On Thursday, June 6, 2019 the 2nd JORNADAS HEALTH & DEPORTE – Healthy lifestyle and food. An exclusive event, with the participation of young athletes from Special Olympics Catalunya. An event organized by the Sports Association Memorial Nacho Juncosa and supported by the Social Work “la Caixa”
The Thursday, June 6, 2019 at the University of Barcelona University Schools, took place 2nd JORNADAS HEALTH AND DEPORTE – Healthy lifestyles and food. An exclusive event, with the aim of fostering healthy practice and living habits for young athletes. On this occasion, the event was dedicated to athletes from Special Olympics Catalunya. And especially 55 young participants in these days, selected from special education schools: Nen Déu and acidH, both based in Barcelona.
The event was organized by the Associació Esportiva Memorial Nacho Juncosa, which also organizes the international tennis tournament sub’16 Memorial Nacho Juncosa and the International ITF Barcelona sub’18 tennis tournament. For this second edition, the event was supported by the Social Work ‘la Caixa’, KIA A.R. Motors, Fárfara Group as well as the collaboration of Special Olympics Catalunya and the FFederació ACELL.
The event focused on promoting the benefits of sport in children. To do this, 4 sports modalities were conducted by professional technicians and there was a tent where a showcooking was performed by a dietitian-nutritionist.
The pupils in both schools were divided into 5 groups and each group was in contact with a different modality for half an hour. The categories were: tennis, paddle, basketball, soccer and a showcooking. In this way, healthy living habits were promoted through the combination of physical activity and a balanced diet.
When all the groups practiced the 5 categories, a prize delivery was held to all the participants and the days were closed with a meal for the technicians, students and organizers.
