Toilets are super gross, especially if some of your family members haven’t yet learned to aim. But turning to bleach or other products may cause more harm than good. Using homemade toilet bowl cleaner over commercial cleaners:

  • Produces a better clean

  • Doesn’t pose risks to your family and pets

  • Is better for the environment

  • Won’t aggravate your senses

  • Never burns or destroys living tissue

An excellent alternative to DIY toilet cleaner bombs (or “fizzies”), DIY toilet bowl cleaner is easier and faster to make at home. There are many options, but this all-natural toilet cleaner recipe is by far the best way to clean a dirty toilet bowl both inside and out.

This homemade toilet bowl cleaner is heavy-duty. Turn to it for regular cleaning or to tackle tough rings and odors. Here’s why it works:

  • Vinegar: A powerful natural cleaner, distilled white vinegar eliminates odors and disinfects porcelain.

  • Borax: Sodium tetraborate, aka Borax, is non-toxic in small amounts. It works as a multi-purpose cleaner with powerful whitening and deodorizing powers.

  • Lemon: The citric acid in lemons binds to toilet bowls, allowing you to remove stains or hard water build-up much easier.

  • Essential oil: Essential oils like lavender or tea tree oil are common in natural cleaners because they offer antibacterial and antifungal properties. You could also use grapefruitlemon, or orange. Correo temporal gratis

Collect the following ingredients:

  • 1 cup of white vinegar

  • 3/4 cup of Borax

  • Half of a lemon, squeezed

  • 10 drops of lavender essential oil

  • Spray bottle

  • Toilet cleaner brush

Combine the ingredients directly in the spray bottle, adding the essential oil in last. Shake well.

Swirl the water around the toilet bowl using your toilet brush or flush to coat the bowl with clean water. Then, liberally spray the cleaner on the inside and outside of the toilet bowl. Scrub immediately or leave it to sit overnight for super stuck-on stains.

Flush to rinse the inside, and wipe off the outside with a clean cloth before using the commode. Make sure no one uses the toilet while the cleaner sits.

2. How to Keep the Toilet Tank Clean Naturally

If cleaning your toilet doesn’t stop the smell or bowl stains, learn how to keep the toilet tank clean. Foul odors sometimes result from brown rust stains, mineral deposits, bacteria, and grime in the toilet tank. Poor conditions lead to issues like staining and can even destroy the metal pieces in your tank. Keep a clean toilet tank by cleaning twice per year using vinegar, which:

  • Kills mildew

  • Dissolves mineral deposits

  • Removes browns stains

  • Disinfects

It’s an excellent natural cleaner! You can also combine vinegar with citrus or your favorite all-purpose cleaner to help with the strong smell if you prefer.

Lift the top of the toilet tank off and set it aside. Then, empty the tank of water by locating the water “tap” valve near the base of your toilet. Flush the toilet to completely drain the water from the tank, which may take a couple of tries.

Next, explore the tank’s condition. If you only see dirt and grime, start scrubbing. Dip your brush in straight vinegar or spray your favorite vinegar-based all-purpose cleaner.

However, tanks with mineral deposits, discoloration, or residue build-up along the walls or bottom require more force. Pour vinegar directly into the tank, filling it to the overflow value. Allow it to sit for around 12 hours, without using the toilet.

When you’re ready to scrub the tank, flush the vinegar out. Put on your rubber gloves, spray cleaner or dip your scrub brush in vinegar, and scrub the tank generously. A new brush with medium or firm bristles is ideal. Avoid spraying the metal parts with anything corrosive (like bleach) for the best results.

Scrub everything well. Rinse, then repeat as needed. Turn the toilet’s water valve back on when ready, allowing the tank to fill with clear water. Flush the toilet repetitively to make sure the tank is clear.

When a clogged drain causes trouble in the bathroom, problems can get messy. You can clear clogged drains coming from your toilets using a homemade cleaner rather than calling an expensive professional plumber. This recipe is powerful enough to remove a clogged drain deep in pipes and much cheaper than commercial-grade drain products.

For this clogged drain home remedy, you want to pour the natural drain cleaner down the toilet. Pour baking soda down the drain, quickly followed by the vinegar. The mixture foams and bubbles. When it begins to chill, pour hot water down the drain as well. Rinse using cold water around five minutes later.
