If you are one of those people who live out of a suitcase then you need to take special care of yourself while you are on your flight. Though the long flights may seem like fun due to all the pampering that you receive; you must also prepare your body for the long hours that you are going to sit in a confined space. You also are at risk of dehydration due to the recycled air that circulates the plane. You also risk back and leg injuries as you carry the heavy luggage around the airport lounge area. You also may get bored due to delays and snags in timings. Added to that you may suffer from jet lag that especially if you are crossing over a time zone.

 

In order to combat all these issues; you must prepare your body prior to your journeys. If you are going on a long flight then you must rest for a few hours before your flight as you may not get much rest on board. Carry a comforter with you on the flight to keep you warm. Wear warm and loose clothing.

When you are on your flight; keep moving your feet when you are seated. This helps to increase circulation and prevent formation of blood clots. Walk up and down the aisles when you have the opportunity.

You may feel a bit dehydrated and parched. Keep a bottle of water with you at all times and sip on the water regularly. Avoid drinking any warm beverages like tea and coffee due to their caffeine content; they will add to your dehydration. You may drink fresh fruit juices as they will boost your energy levels. Be careful when you are lifting your luggage to place it in the over head compartment. Do not twist your back as you run the risk of spraining the muscles in your back. Ask the flight attendants to help you out in case you have any trouble.

What I say next may seem a bit uncalled for but we all are aware of the fact that airline food is not the most nutritious. In order to prevent any issues with heartburn and acid reflux; try and carry a snack from home. A few nuts or dry fruits will help to keep you satiated and prevent you from binging on the high fat food and snacks that the airline has to offer.

 

If you are flying with children then keep them busy with a toy or puzzles or colors. This helps to keep them distracted and prevent boredom from setting in. If they are bored; they are going to drive you up the wall and the last thing you want to do is lose your patience.
