How to Prevent Traveler's Diarrhea

I love to travel; but I am not too excited about the allergies and bacteria that I pick up during my journey. During my trips I normally suffer from diarrhea and this in not an uncommon thing. You need to equip yourself to fight this in order to enjoy your journey and the trip.

To begin with you must research the place that you are going to before hand. This gives you an idea of the type of climate in the area. It will help you to carry the appropriate medications and clothing to prevent any diseases. Make sure that you get vaccinated for any of the viral diseases that may spread in the region. Get a dental appointment before your trip so that the food that you eat does not affect any cavities or infections that you may have. The infections will first manifest themselves in the form of viral infections and diarrhea. You must make sure that you are aware of what you eat. Getting adventurous with your food is not a good idea as you are unable to predict the reaction of the food on your body.

There are a few precautions that you must take when you are on your trip. This prevents any illnesses. Drink plenty of water in order to flush out any bacteria that you may have contracted. But make sure that you are drinking only bottled water. Drinking water locally may be dangerous as it may not be processed for drinking. This can lead to severe bouts of diarrhea. You may drink carbonated drinks if you are unable to get bottled water. Do not have ice cubes either as you are not aware of the water used to make these cubes. Oye Quotes Lifestyle

Always wipe the top of your can or bottle before you take a sip, better still use a straw. You must avoid eating raw foods like salads and sandwiches as raw vegetables are an easy way to ingest bacteria.

Wiping your cutlery before you eat is not a bad idea either. This helps to get rid of any bacteria that may be a residue of the water used to wash the cutlery.

You must also make sure that you wash your mouth and brush your teeth with only bottled water in order to prevent bacteria from entering your body. When you are having a shower make sure that your mouth is closed. This prevents water from entering your mouth. Avoid taking long baths and soaking in water for extended periods when you are travelling to an unknown destination.
