Oily skin tends to shine due to the constant secretion of oil from your pores. Since oily skin has large pores they tend to attract dust and dirt and thus the skin looks darker than it may actually be.

In order to reduce the oil from your face you must wash your face every 3 hours. This helps to eliminate any oil deposits that may be there currently as well as refreshes your skin by getting rid of the dirt.

You must use oil free moisturizers and cosmetics to reduce the amount of oil on your skin. Keep your make up light with lesser layers.

Using a mud mask on your face atleast 3 times a week will reduce the secretion of oil. Steam your face daily before a bath. Use lavender oil or tee tree oil in the water that you use to steam your face.

 

Your diet must include a healthy balance of fruits, vegetables (especially the green ones) and must be packed with liquids. Drinking 8 glasses of water daily is a must for oily skin. You may also choose to substitute water with fruit juices. Stay away from fried foods and junk foods. Potatoes are high in starch and are normally not recommended for oily skin. Stay away from caffeine drinks as they cause acne which is not uncommon to oily skin.

Beware when you venture into the sun. The heat from the dun stimulates the production of oil on your skin. Reduce your exposure to the sun and protect yourself with a good sunscreen.

Use mashed fruits like bananas and mangoes on your skin. They are natural moisturizers for your skin. They tend to brighten up your skin.

Speak with your dermatologist and request him to prescribe supplements like Vitamin A, Vitamin C and zinc.
