Bodegas Carpe Diem has been one of the winners of the VIII Wine Contest with Denomination of Origin Malaga and Sierras de Malaga that organizes the Diputación to promote the wine sector of the province. The rest of the award-winning wineries have been Nilva Enoturismo (Manilva), Gross Hermanos (Málaga), Martín Kieninger (Ronda) and Grupo Jorge Ordóñez (Vélez-Málaga).

The ruling has taken place at the Castillo del Marqués School of Hostelry in Valle Niza (Vélez-Málaga) where the tasting has been carried out by a jury composed of the expert catadores: the sub-sunner of the Hotel Marbella Club, Ángel González; the journalist and gastronomic critic Enrique Fernando Bellver López; Caroline Wästersved, former sub-sunner of the restaurant with three stars Michelin Abac of Barcelona; and Morales Fernández.

The jury had to deliberate between 52 references of wines presented to contest by 13 wineries. After the blind tasting, in which it has been treated to characteristics such as the intensity of the color, the nuances that contribute to the smell, the persistence in the taste and harmony of the wines that are presented to contest, the jury has selected the winning wineries in each of the five categories.

In this line, Carpe Diem wineries have won the ‘Sabor a Malaga’ Award for the best wine of liquor with D.O.P. Malaga, with Carpe Diem Trasañejo wine 2010.

The contest is endowed with 5,000 euros per category in the acquisition of lots of the prized wines for their participation in the different promotional actions of ‘Sabor a Malaga’.

Bodegas Carpe Diem, as well as the other award-winning wineries, will be able to display in its label the Legend Sabor Award for Malaga and will have the possibility to represent the Malaga wine brand and wine industry in events as outstanding as the Gourmets Hall of Madrid, Madrid Fusión or Alimentaria Barcelona, as well as in international fairs in other countries.
