Lack of physical activity can give rise to numerous problems and these can affect the body both in short and long term. A person without much physical activity can invite anything from obesity to heart diseases and even death. And such persons are not a rarity.
In fact doctors estimate that almost two-third of the world’s population goes without enough physical exercises. This number is set to go up as more of our daily activities are being taken care of by machines.
The alarming situation is that the bad effects of lack of physical activity in children can lead them to a very unhealthy life in their future. In fact, lack of physical activity in the childhood can lead to serious heart problems in their later life. So what are the ill effects of sedentary life, or a life which lacks enough physical activity?
Effects Of Lack Of Exercise
Obesity And Weight Gain
This is most probably the commonest ill effect that hardly takes time to notice. The food you take needs to break down and provide the essential nutrients for development of the body. But it needs physical activities to do the job completely.
In case of lack of exercises or physical activity, the fat accumulates as it does not get a chance to burn up which it can do only if there is sufficient physical activity. This gradual build up of fat leads not only to obesity, but if it gets accumulated in the arteries, then the person can suffer from various heart diseases including heart failure.

Obesity is also a vicious circle. Once a person starts getting obese, he or she finds it difficult to move and that causes an aversion towards physical activity, which in turn increases their obesity and so on. Blog sopper tappers
Diabetes
Obesity and diabetes can both result from lack of balanced diet. But a person who hardly does any physical activity can also invite diabetes. Like fat, sugar in the body is also a source of energy and if it is not burnt up, it can gradually increase its level in the body and cause various ailments. When diabetes goes beyond control, it can lead to death also.
Heart Diseases
Our heart is one of the most important organs of the body and we all know what happens when it fails to work. So it is very important that it is kept in full working capability. Lack of exercise or any proper physical activity can lead to increased cholesterol level and increase in blood pressure.
This naturally forces the heart to work above its normal capability and that may lead to its failure. The consequences of such failure hardly need any elaboration.
Depression And Other Conditions
The notion that lack of exercises can lead only to physical complexities is not always true. The mind can get affected too and the person may suffer from depression and fatigue. This is because exercises help to release certain hormones in the body which actually reduce depression and anxiety.
Finally, the common problem faced by people who actually do less physical activity is lack of flexibility. This makes the daily life difficult after some time, especially with age. Such lack of flexibility can lead to loss of balance and make the person prone to injuries from falls.
