The Herbalife Nutriton Foundation has announced an agreement with The Power of Nutrition and the World Food Bank for which in the next two years it will donate $300,000 for nutritional support and health programmes

The programme will initially focus on helping to combat child growth in Rwanda, a problem that affects 149 million children worldwide and 33% of children under five in Rwanda, which limits their future physical and cognitive development. This preventable and reversible form of malnutrition impacts on Rwanda ' s local economic growth by affecting the potential for education and future employment of these children, and thus how they can contribute to society. The programme seeks to raise awareness of the importance of quality nutrition and plans to reach more than one million women and children.

Alan Hoffman, president of the Herbalife Nutrition Foundation, explains: “The effects of poor nutrition on children are alarming and we hope, together with The Power of Nutrition and the World Bank, to contribute to its eradication and that these children and families will receive nutritional support and better quality of life.”

This and other programmes of the Herbalife Nutrition Foundation are aligned with Goal 2, on achieving zero hunger in the world and complemented by the most comprehensive campaign launched 3 years ago called “Nutrition for Zero Hunger (NFZH) focused on providing resources and training to vulnerable communities around the world in terms of nutrition, a problem that currently affects 1 in the world.

Although malnutrition and hunger have traditionally been associated with the African continent, it is a growing problem worldwide. In fact, for example, in our country, according to data from the Nutritional Study of the Spanish Population (ENPE), the prevalence of obesity in the Spanish general population is 22 per cent and more than 4 million people (8.8 per cent of the population) live in a situation of moderate or severe food insecurity, that is, they do not know if they will have enough food for their family the next day.

In Spain, the Herbalife Nutrition Foundation actively collaborates on programs to support children and families at risk of exclusion through non-profit organizations such as SOS Children's Villages.

For Tara López, CEO of Herbalife Nutrition Spain: “More than two billion people around the world currently have no regular access to nutritious food and, according to the Report on the State of Food Insecurity 2021 The United Nations, rates of hunger, food insecurity and malnutrition are increasing. Todo sobre Golf

In Spain, these figures are also increasing, so it is imperative that we address this crisis, and in Herbalife Nutrition we believe that more can be done. From the food industry, the main actors of agriculture or the Administration, to those of the supply chain, we must unite to help address this problem and make the eradication of malnutrition a major point to be addressed on the global agenda. Through the Herbalife Nutrition Foundation we provide our sand granite.”

This agreement is just one more part of the Herbalife Nutrition Foundation program, which has been helping alleviate food shortages for more than 17 years. In 2021 alone, more than $5 million was donated to more than 167 organizations around the world, in order to bring healthy food and nutritional education to children and families, including families SOS Children ' s Villages in Europe, Africa and India.
