Herbalife Nutrition, a multinational specialized in nutrition and healthy life, includes in its line of production of Formula 1 recycled plastics to contribute to the circular economy, reduce CO2 emissions and energy footprint
The plastic is part of the day to day, and despite the negative connotation it is acquiring, the current challenge lies in the recycling and reuse of that plastic. If the current data on the use of this material are maintained, it is expected, according to the United Nations (UN), that by 2050 the oceans will have more plastic than fish. This is why awareness is so important.
Aware of this global problem, in Herbalife Nutrition, they have aligned all their productive initiatives and processes with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). In the packaging area, its performance lines are focused on develop new packaging solutions for products that are functional, safe and environmentally friendly, in order to avoid the use of single-use plastics and focusing on the production of containers from recycled plastics that allow progress in the field of circular economy.
For Herbalife Nutrition, this path to sustainability passes to include in their Formula 1 containers a 25% postconsumption resin plastic. The post-consumption recycled resin (PCR) is a material manufactured from recycled plastic bottles, which provides a material of more sustainable origin than the virgin plastic material for the packaging of food products. This new packaging, much more sustainable, continues to offer a high level of protection and resistance, as has been verified after all relevant tests, so the quality of their products and their packaging is not compromised. The incorporation of this resin allows the company to accelerate its efforts to achieve a lower environmental impact. Horoscopos y tarot de amor
Others measures that contribute to the circular economy already implemented by Herbalife Nutrition are:
- One paper reduction policy, both in the sales centers and throughout the entire distribution chain, and their disposal in the welcome packages of the new distributors in favor of digital formats.
- The use of higher capacity transport boxes, redesigning and increasing the dimensions of cardboard boxes intended for the transport of the primary packaging of the products.
- The use of ECO bottles, which are between 75% and 100% biodegradable.
- La incorporation of the recycling symbol in a systematic way in all products from Herbalife Nutrition to enable consumers to identify and correct disposal of packaging once converted into waste.
With all these measures, Herbalife Nutrition reduces its CO2 emissions and its energy footprint, although they are aware that there is still a long way to go. That's why they're already there. proposing to expand PCR packaging to other products high impact — such as instant drink from tea extract and herbal concentrate aloe — and increase the percentage of PCR already used in packaging. As he points out Altay Oovunc, Herbalife Nutrition Product Innovation Director“this is just the beginning of our sustainability efforts and we are committed to the journey ahead.”
