  • In order to create a SpongeBob bedroom on a budget properly, you need to decide how much money you are willing to spend, before proceeding to purchase decorative items, etc. Consider painting the bedrooms a nice shade of blue. You can refer to an ocean-themed color palette to choose the color. You can use two shades of blue to create an undersea look. Do not worry if you do an uneven job of painting, for it will accentuate the look of the ocean-blue colored walls.
  • If painting all the walls is not an option for you, painting just one wall would be a good idea. If it is possible, paint the wall that is behind the bed’s headboard, and make sure the other walls match with the blue color you have chosen. Alternatively, you could use yellow instead of blue, if it matches with the other walls.
  • Decorate the blue or yellow walls with seashells, bits of corral, dried seaweed, pebbles, etc. You could also cut up some green paper into strips to represent seaweed. Paint bubbles on the blue walls, or paste circular-shaped bits of blue cellophane paper instead.
  • If you are artistically gifted, paint SpongeBob, the other characters, and the Krusty Krab restaurant on your walls. Alternatively, you could use stencils, or colorful Tack-it to create SpongeBob motifs on the walls. Using Tack-it is a nice option for it can be easily removed. Put up some posters on your blue or yellow painted walls. Just two small posters on either side of the bed’s headboard will do. You can also frame them in blue or yellow, if it is within your budget.
  • The next step in creating a SpongeBob bedroom on a budget, is painting, and decorating the furniture. If it is possible, paint the furniture yellow, or else just skip to the decorating part. Decorate the furniture with a few, small-sized SpongeBob relief stickers or colorful Tack-it motifs. For example, if you have a chest of drawers in the bedroom, stick two stickers on either side of the knobs, on alternate drawers.
  • In order to accentuate the SpongeBob bedroom theme, you need to have bed linen and curtains, which match with the rest of the décor. You can use yellow curtains or curtains in a pale shade of blue that complement your walls. Painting SpongeBob motifs on your curtains using fabric paint is also a nice idea.
  • When it comes to choosing bed linen, a SpongeBob-themed bedspread would be a nice addition to the room. Using fabric paint, you can paint SpongeBob-themed designs on the bedspread. Alternatively, you can also embroider SpongeBob motifs on the bedspread. Some blue and yellow pillows would also be nice. If you do not wish to paint, or embroider the bedspread, you could just go with plain blue or yellow sheets.

  • Putting up a hand-painted “The Krusty Krab” sign on your child’s bedroom door is a cute idea. If your child is very small, do not use relief stickers, Tack-it, small seashells, and other small decorative items that they can swallow.
