Instructions

  • You will need these ingredients: 1 package of Devil’s Food chocolate cake mix, 1 package of instant chocolate pudding mix, ½ cup of vegetable oil, 1 ¼ cup of warm water, 2 eggs, dark-chocolate icing, Liquorice sticks or Pocky for the legs, grated dark-chocolate, red M&M’s, red gumdrops or candy eyes, colorful fondant, Black coloring gel and other colors you would like to use in your design.
  • Beat the eggs in a bowl, add the chocolate cake mix and pudding mix, vegetable oil, warm water, and stir it until the batter reaches a smooth consistency. Pour the batter into two separate bowls (one must be larger than the other) and then bake each of them at 350 degrees F in the oven.
  • Once your cakes are cool, you can invert them (placing them end to end), and using a flat spatula or butter knife spread the dark-chocolate icing evenly over the cake. You could also cut your cake in half horizontally, add icing to the halves, and then press them together (before you add icing to the top of the cake).
  • Spray the whole cake using the black coloring gel. To add finer details to your Halloween Spider cake you can use an icing pen. You can either use store-bought icing pens, or make your own icing pen using butter paper. Just fold the butter paper into a small cone, leaving a tiny hole at the tip for the icing mixture to stream through. Fill up the cone or icing pen and try drawing on a blank sheet of paper to ensure that the icing mixture flows out smoothly.
  • Use black liquorice or Pocky for the legs of the Spider. You can also define the contours of the cake and design by using light colored icing outlines.
  • To create the Spider’s eyes, you can use either M&M’s, large red gumdrops, candy eyes or red fondant. You can use red fondant for the mouth as well. You can also use finely grated chocolate to make the Spider’s body look hairy.
  • Tips and Warnings Estufa de pellets

  • For a simple Halloween Spider cake, you can bake just one cake and you can decorate it with creepy-crawly spider designs. For example, you can frost the cake in white icing, and then draw spiders and spider webs using dark-chocolate icing.
  • If you have never used an icing pen before, practicing your design on paper before proceeding to decorate the Halloween Spider cake is a good idea. You can double the ingredients if you want a larger cake.
