Chocolate is the world’s favorite confectionary and is loved by one and all. Chocolate tart is a delicious dessert made using chocolate. It is very easy to make this dessert at home and is ideal for kids’ parties. Chocolate tart can be made using store bought pastry or tart shell.
However, you can easily make your own tart shell using simple ingredients. Making your own tart shell will ensure your dessert tastes fresh and yummy. Home-made tart shell will cost you less and is quick to make.
This recipe can also be improvised upon to include your favorite fresh fruits. Adding a hint of your favorite chocolate liqueur will make the tart taste exotic and exclusive.

To make the tart shell you will need 1 and half cups all-purpose flour, 3/4th cup powdered sugar, 3/4th cup butter, 1 egg, and 2-3 spoons milk. To make the rich chocolate filling for the tart you will need 1 cup bitter-sweet chocolate, 3-4 spoons softened butter, 2 eggs, 1/4th cup heavy whipping cream, ½ cup sugar, and 1 spoon chocolate liqueur.
First, make the dough for the tart shell. For this, take refined flour in a large bowl and add the powdered sugar. Mix the flour and sugar very well and then add butter. Mix the butter with your hands into the flour and sugar mix so that you attain bread-crumb like texture. Add the egg and the milk to knead firm dough. Let the dough rest in a cool place for an hour.
Dust a flat surface and roll out the tart dough to medium thickness. Line the dough on a tart pan. Press the dough well into the tart pan. Prick the dough with a fork to prevent it from rising. Also, remove any excess dough and ensure the dough is well-fitted in the tart pan. Bake the tart in a pre-heated oven at 350 degree Fahrenheit till it attains a nice brown color.
Next, prepare the chocolate filling for the tart by melting the chocolate. For this, take water in a large stainless steel vessel and bring it to a boil. Once, the water begins to boil place the chocolate pieces in another vessel just over the boiling water. When the chocolate begins to melt stir in the softened butter. Keep stirring the chocolate and butter till there are no lumps.
In a separate bowl, break 2 eggs and add whipping cream and sugar. Whisk thoroughly with an electric blender. Next, add the chocolate liqueur and one again whisk it very well with the eggs, sugar and cream. Fold in the melted chocolate and butter mix gently into the eggs-sugar and cream mixture.
Pour the prepared chocolate mix into the tart shell. Your tart shell should not be too hot when you pour the chocolate mix into it. Bake the tart in an oven at 250 degree Fahrenheit for 5-10 minutes. After this, switch off the oven. However, the chocolate tart must remain in the warm oven for additional 40 minutes. After 30-40 minutes in the oven, remove the tart and refrigerate it for 2 hours.
After refrigeration, remove the tart from the mould and serve garnished with chocolate shavings. Carefully cut the chocolate tart into triangular wedges before serving them. You can also serve this dessert with sweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice-cream.
