How To Make Hamburger

Hamburgers have always been labeled as junk food. This is not entirely true because homemade hamburgers can be made nutritious and healthy. The heart of the hamburger is known as the patty.

If the patty is made with healthy ingredients the hamburger itself becomes healthy. The hamburger can be cooked using the skillet method or by grilling. Grilling is more preferred because the fat from the meat usually drops from the grill. Follow our instructions to make the perfect homemade hamburger in less than twenty minutes.

Difficulty Level

Moderately easy

Instructions

  • Ingredients – Hamburger buns, breadcrumbs, ground meat, egg, bread crumbs, chopped or minced onion, one teaspoon coriander powder, one teaspoon paprika, salt and ground black pepper as per taste, soy sauce or a tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce.
  • Getting the meat for the burger – You can purchase a pack of ground meat (beef) from the store or ask your butcher to have it grinded for you coarsely. To get the perfect juiciest burger you should select ground beef chuck.
  • If you have a meat grinder at home then you can chop the meat and have it grinded in your kitchen itself. Take a large mixing bowl and add the ground meat in it. In another small bowl crack and beat one egg. Pour the beaten egg into the mixer bowl. Add salt and pepper as per taste.
  • Next add two tablespoons of water, sauce, minced onion, bread crumbs and any other seasoning (optional). You can also add minced mushrooms, or any other ground vegetable. Mix the ingredients using your hand or a spoon. Now wet your hand with water and take a little meat from the bowl. Move the meat very lightly between your hands to make a one inch soft patty.
  • Do not press the meat to make it hard and dense. If you press the patty too hard the juices will run out of it making it drier to eat.Set aside the soft patty. Heat the skillet to medium-high. When it is hot, add a little oil. Put the patty in the skillet carefully and cook for three minutes per side.
  • If using the grill, preheat it to high temperature, oil it and arrange the patty. Turn the patty after 2-4 minutes. Do not flip the patty too soon as it will fall apart.
  • Remove the patty from the heat source – skillet or grill – when it is done. Lightly brush butter on the bun and toast it.
  • Add mayonnaise, slices of raw onion and tomato, lettuce leaf and the patty. Your hamburger is ready.
