Instructions
To make the tuna salad, start by obtaining a tin of canned tuna. Tuna canned in oil tastes best for this salad, however tuna canned in water retains key nutrients and is considered healthier. Drain all the water or oil from the tuna can and remove the fish flesh.
Take the tuna in a mixing bowl and finely mince the tuna by breaking the larger chunks. Begin making the salad by adding all the condiments. Onions, mayonnaise and chopped hard-boiled eggs are classic additions to a tuna salad. Add about 2 large teaspoons of mayonnaise to the tuna and mix well. Add about 1/4th cup of finely chopped onions to the salad. Season with salt and pepper. The salad must have a moist creamy texture.
You can spice up your tuna salad and make it taste fresh and flavorful by adding a little chopped dill or parsley. Adding some cucumber pickles or just the brine of pickles will give your tuna salad a nice tangy and spicy touch.
Add chopped celery and a teaspoon of mustard sauce. You can also experiment with your own dressing and make your own version of the tuna salad. A tangy lemon-honey dressing spiced by chopped jalapenos and seasoned with salt and pepper goes well with a tuna salad, giving it a different flavor profile altogether.
Finally, add 1 chopped hard-boiled egg to the salad and mix everything well. Serve this salad at room temperature or slightly chilled. You can serve this salad over a bowl of lettuce leaves, garnished with tomato slices.
