In spite of this, the data reflect that the locals are 2% less stressed than the national average.
The survey, which every year reflects the customs and customs of food in Spain, has been carried out by interviews with a sample of 2,004 people from all over the country, aged between 16 and 65, selected intentionally and proportionally to the quotas of the Spanish population according to the INE.
After 18 years evaluating the nutrition habits of the Spaniards, the annual research of Herbalife Nutrition, carried out together with the market research company Instituto IO Sondea, shows that the current average weight of the Spaniards has increased 1.6 kg compared to the weight stated in the previous wave. On the contrary, in the case of Madrid, the average weight has been maintained with respect to the data of 2021.
Stress, the main aggravating
Once again, the socio-economic context is determinant for health, being able to modify not only food habits, but also other healthy life practices such as sports activities.
One of the most relevant issues of the survey is the increase in stress among the people of Madrid, the result of the current situation. In fact, 7 out of 10 respondents claim to be more stressed and 75.94% attribute it to the economic crisis, among other factors such as the health situation, work or family.
Thus, it is not surprising that stress is positioned in the first place as a disease or physical situation that Madrid suffers. It is followed by others such as anxiety (23.45%), hair loss (20.69%) and depression (15.52%). blog sobre telescopios
As a result, the percentage of Madridns taking any prescription medication has increased, but it is below the rest of Spain. According to the panel of the study, almost 1 in 5 currently consume analgesics (20 % versus 23.70% of the national average), followed almost to the same level of anti-inflammatory (20.34% vs 22.2% of the Spanish).
Lightly improved diet and sport
The economic crisis has also caused more than 5 out of 10 Madrid (47.59 per cent) to reduce the number of meals and the quality of food consumed, five points above the average of the country. In Madrid, quality is reduced (28.28% compared to 22.4% of national data) and not so much the number of meals (10.32% vs 11.63 % Spanish), and 9.68% both. The main affected are women, persons under 55 years of age, those of low social class or those with low monthly income and a level of middle or basic education.
The change in eating habits has affected the diet: according to the last panel of the Herbalife Nutrition study of 2022, 1 in 5 Madrid (20.34%) does not have a balanced diet. Figures that drop slightly compared to the previous year's trend, when 22.11% ensured they did not follow adequate diet patterns.
However, 4 out of 5 in Madrid (79.66%) ensure that a balanced diet is carried daily, slightly higher than that of the previous wave of 2021, when it was 77.89%. At this point, they are middle- and high-class people, as well as those who have high monthly incomes or have higher studies who make sure to follow a balanced diet.
When asked about the number of hours of sport practiced a week, 7 out of 10 Madrid confirm that they practice it once a week (72.76%), which is above the previous wave (69.39%). On average, they practice a total of 3.32 hours a week, staying the same as the previous year, when it was in the same number. In any case, the young men surveyed, the high social class and those with the greatest income are the ones who spend the most hours a week on physical activities.
In addition, the Herbalife Nutrition study shows that the average weight of Madrid has been maintained in relation to the first wave of the study, being 74.79 kg in 2022 and 74.61 kg in 2021. Men, over the age of 34, middle class people and those with middle studies have been the ones who have pointed out the most weight gain above the global average.
