Herbalife Nutrition, a multinational nutrition company, has organized a series of talks between the legend of the Rhiblanco club, Paulo Futre, and the Atlético de Madrid feminine players: Amanda Sampedro, Virginia Torrecilla and Charlyn Corral.
The first meeting has been with Captain Amanda Sampedro, who has been on the team for 15 years. Futre has been interested in knowing how the start of the player was and how it feels to have become such an important figure within the club and female sport.
Amanda, happy to be able to share this meeting with a club legend like Futre, explains that she's still being put on her hairs with the captain's bracelet. “I am a football forum, I love what I do and, above, I am lucky to feel it. Atleti has been the most beautiful thing that ever happened to me. I've grown up with the team and it's my home,” the player explained.
Since 2010 being the captain of the reddish team, Sampedro already has a commemorative plaque at the Metropolitan Wanda Stadium next to other myths of the club like Futre himself. She says that when she was told that her plate would be on the Paseo de Leyendas, “it was another dream fulfilled more.” “For me it was impressive, it is something for all life and that has taught all the athletics how to represent this shield,” he added proudly.
Paulo knows very well what he feels about these recognitions and, like Amanda, he was proud of the “extreme happiness” that makes him see the plate every time he visits the reddish fief. Futre, Silver Ball in 1987, won two King Cups and the League sub-campoonate with the first male team, in times when the Women's Club did not yet exist.
At the end of the meeting, Amanda had the opportunity to honor Paulo Futre, giving him the Atletico shirt of female Madrid.
The next meeting will be with the reddish chopper Charlyn Corral. The Mexican debuted as a lead on the team last September and is already a benchmark. In the talk with Futre, both will share their successful careers and discuss the evolution of female football.
