The European production model helps progressive internationalisation, stand out from PROVACUNO. The Paris Agreement at COP21 has marked before and after the determined commitment of the sector to move towards greater environmental sustainability. The European meat cow will exhibit all its potential and its role in the vertebration of the rural environment and the fight against depopulation

The sector of the European meat vacuno goes from 15 to 19 October to SIAL Paris, one of the largest food fairs in the international landscape, showing some of its most outstanding competitive bazas, such as high quality parameters, traceability, food security, animal welfare and commitment to sustainability.

From the Asociación Interprofesional Agroalimentaria de la Carne de Vacuno (PROVACUNO) - an entity composed of the organizations of the production sector and of the transformation and marketing - they state that SIAL is a capital forum to advance on the path of greater internationalization and a window without paragon.

The Provacuno stand will be the epicenter of commercial contacts and will also feature a gastronomic area to show the excellence of the product, with the collaboration of chef Fran Martínez (2 Michelin stars).

The city of Paris is, in fact, a benchmark for the sector in its unreturned bet for greater sustainability. And it is that PROVACUNO has been in the process since its activity, giving impetus to various research and technological development projects in order to achieve the goals agreed globally at the Paris Climate Summit, COP21, in 2015.

It was the starting point for the launch of the Neutral Carbon Carne Cowskin strategy 2050, with the objective of achieving the climate neutrality of the sector by that year. PROVACUNO, within this strategy, has deployed a code of good environmental practices, developed by a group of 17 researchers from 7 research centers belonging to the Remedia Network, as a cornerstone of the aforementioned strategy.

“SIAL of Paris in one of the most important contests in the world, which will make it possible to value the European production model, which integrates the most demanding protocols of the Planet in areas such as quality, traceability, food security, support to rural communities, commitment to reducing emissions and caring for the environment without forgetting the highest guarantees of animal welfare”, said Javier López, director of PROVACUNO. These aspects stand out in the information campaign “Hate Vaquero- Proud of EU Beef” (2020-2023), which PROVACUNO promotes together with its APAQ-W counterpart in Belgium with the aim of strengthening the competitiveness of the European sector.

“SIAL will be a top-level forum to learn about this campaign and ultimately show these differential values of the production system in the EU. At the same time, there will be an intense schedule of commercial contacts and we will show the goodness of an excellent product,” highlighted the director of PROVACUNO, Javier López.

The European companies of Carne de Vacuno are getting to position their products in the major extra-communitarian destinations of Southeast Asia, the Middle East, or America. In this way, the meat buffer sector not only creates economic value for Europe, but also contributes to the setting of population in the rural environment, minimizing the exodus of the countryside to the cities, generating employment in areas with risk of depopulation.

European model: the most demanding in the world
PROVACUNO underscores the enormous efforts of an increasingly modern and professionalized sector, which responds to the new demands of consumers while he wants to contribute as an outstanding agent to the achievement of the goals set by the EU in the strategies “Pacto Verde” and “From the farm to the table”.

In Spain, the Carne de Vacuno sector consists of 115,000 farms - 40% are located in municipalities with risk of depopulation-, 5.8 million cattle heads, 238 industries, 718,000 tons produced each year for a value that exceeds 3 billion euros and more than 132,000 direct jobs, according to the report "Análisi del sector vacuno de carne de España"

About PROVACUNE and “Make You Cowboy”
The Interprofessional Agro-Food Organization of the Carne de Vacuno de España (PROVACUNO) is a private, non-profit and national entity, composed of the main organizations of the production sector and the sector of transformation and marketing for the defense of the interests of the meat sector, meeting place and discussion forum for the improvement of the situation of the entire sectoral food chain.

Among its activities, PROVACUNO is currently immersed in the development of the European information campaign “Make you Cowboy-Proud of EU Beef”, together with its three-year APAQ-W Belgium counterpart (2020-2022), to strengthen the competitiveness of this sector in Europe, with informative actions in Germany, Belgium, Portugal, France and Spain. The “Food-Based Dietary Guidelines in Europe” (FBDG), established by each member State of the European Union, provide healthy, science-based consumption recommendations for each food group, including the Vacuum Meat. They set out the appropriate consumption recommendation for each of the 27 States of the European Union, taking into account, equally, that they be culturally acceptable and consumer-friendly at the time of their implementation.
