More than 50% of the population in Spain has a vitamin D deficit, a factor associated with the risk of mental health problems such as depression, schizophrenia and dementia.
According to data from medical professionals, more than 50% of the Spanish population suffers vitamin D deficiency. The main causes are a lack of sun exposure, a fundamental source of this vitamin, an inappropriate diet, or the inability to process it for various problems, such as intestinal diseases or disease in the liver and kidney.
Usually, the vitamin D deficiency is associated with bone problems and muscle weakness, because this vitamin contributes to the absorption of calcium. However, in deficiency states can result in cognitive impairment and the development of disorders such as depression, schizophrenia and dementia.
A controlled exposure to sunlight and an appropriate diet, rich in milk, fatty fish, egg yolk and mushrooms, among other foods are the main sources of vitamin D.
However, nowadays the diet is not always enough to get all the nutrients needed to maintain good health and well-being, so supplements and nutraceutics can have a key role to improve mental health.
For years, various experts and organizations like International Society for Nutritional Psychiatry Reserarch (International Society for Nutritional Psychiatry Reserarch)ISNPR), scientific society dedicated to promoting research on the prevention and treatment of psychiatric disorders, support the generation of evidence on the prevention and treatment of mental disorders through nutrition, with a balanced and high-quality diet, supported by nutritional supplements.
AORA Health, pharmaceutical laboratory specialized in research and development of high-quality nutraceutics, has advanced in the application of vitamin D to the prevention and improvement of cognitive function, combining it with bioactive molecules of Ginkgo Biloba, Bacopa Monnieri, Lipoic Alpha Acid, Citicoline and Vitamin B5.
La combination of these substances natural causes a series of synergistic effects, beneficial to memory, concentration, learning and, in general, mental well-beingpreventing brain and cognitive impairment.
First, it produces a vasoregulating, antioxidant and neuroprotective effect, as well as an improvement in synaptic transmission in the brain and a stabilizing effect of cell membranes. On the other hand, it increases the levels of phosphatidylcholine and acetylcholine in the brain, inhibiting the degradation of membrane phospholipids and, finally, facilitates a neutralization of free radicals.
According to Gonzalo Peñaranda, CEO of AORA Health: “Our products are designed to achieve maximum well-being in a complex society, with a frenetic lifestyle. That is, without a doubt, our differential value: bringing scientific research to as many people as possible, with innovative, clinically proven products.”
